An untitled sequel to the third installment in the The Amazing Spider-Man series was announced by Sony. It was to be released on May 4, 2018, but has been pushed back to an unknown time. On March 15, 2014, Marc Webb told The Daily Beast in an interview that he won't be directing the fourth film but would be involved as a consultant for the film. Later that month, Webb talked to E! Online stating there's a possibility on seeing Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman in a future film. On April 16, 2014, Den of Geek reported that the Spider Slayers and Black Cat are lined up for future films. On September 15, 2015, Angelina Jolie was confirmed to be in talks for the main role in the movie, previous revealed to be Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.
There were rumors that the third and fourth installment would be shot back-to-back with Rossum as the lead role, which he and Webb denied.
